February 2nd – A Tribute to Dennis Wideman’s Awful Shootout Attempt

February 2nd is Groundhog Day. It’s also the anniversary of one of the worst shootout attempts in NHL history by the former member of the St. Louis Blues skater Dennis Wideman. Back on February 2nd, 2006 we saw Wideman streak in for a shootout attempt only to see his entire body somehow leave the ice without even an attempt on net. The attempt is pretty impressive even upon multiple viewings, but even Tank’s bit of magic wasn’t enough to get even the slightest reaction from the stoic Russian commentators. Read more.
