It wasn’t a major deal by any standards, but the St. Louis Blues did pull off a trade during the 2011 NHL Entry Draft that might have gone overlooked by fans that were solely focused on the team’s draft selections themselves. The Blues obtained Evgeny Grachev from the New York Rangers in exchange for their third round, 72nd overall pick during this season’s draft (The Rangers selected Steven Fogarty). Read more.

Erik Johnson, Jay McClement and a conditional first round pick are heading toward the Avalanche in exchange for Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk and a conditional second round pick. Wow. Eric Brewer Traded to Tampa Bay


The Blues have traded Eric Brewer to Tampa Bay in exchange for the rights to prospect Brock Beukeboom and a third round pick in 2011. We assumed the Blues would be entering the trading world in the near future as they fell further and further out of contention, and today signals that the team will be a seller this deadline. Brewer has decided to waive his trade clause and will immediately jump from the 13th team in the Western Conference to the 2nd best team in the Eastern Conference. Read more.

While the St. Louis community was still breaking down the Jaroslav Halak deal, John Davidson pulled the trigger again. This time the Blues are sending prospect Julian Talbot to Colorado in exchange for T.J. Hensick.
