The St. Louis Blues tallied three power play goals to give the club a 4-3 victory in Game 3. Converting three out of four possible chances with the man advantage, the Blues now hold a 2-1 edge in the series and have made a huge statement by defusing the animosity San Jose had following the fireworks after Game 2. Berglund Awakens, Blues Start Their Break

Patrik Berglund

Earlier today I posted an article about Patrik Berglund’s struggles and how he has fallen well below the point-per-game pace we saw in 2010-11. I discussed whether a trade was a possibility and how any deal involving #21 would be a difficult one to execute. Well, Berglund responded. Something, potentially the article from earlier (One can dream), spurred Berglund on to his best and most impressive performance of the year as the Blues fell to the Penguins in a shootout. Now the Blues will enjoy some significant time off as the NHL takes its All-Star break. Read more.

Is Another Trade Coming?

Is Another Trade Coming?

We’ve had a couple days and one exciting game separating us from the shocking trade that sent Jay McClement and Erik Johnson to Colorado, and things are finally settling down. Chris Stewart scored two goals in his debut and Kevin Shattenkirk added an assist. In case anyone was unfamiliar with him, Stewart instantly made his presence known and reminded plenty of fans of a young Keith Tkachuk in front of the net. While the two newest members of the clubs enjoyed successful debuts, the real question is: Is another trade coming? Read more.

The defense and goaltending needs to cut down on the number of goals being allowed, but at least some members of the offense are clicking. Read more.

Berglund Matches Last Season’s Point Total

Back on December 23rd, I wrote an article about how Patrik Berglund was having an improved statistical performance this season when compared to last season. I mentioned how his point-per-game pace had improved, and while he may not everyone’s expectations, he is contributing to the offense. Now, with a large chunk of the season left to be played, Berglund already has 26 points to his name – matching his quiet performance in all of 2009-10. Read more.
