Halak Out for Game 4
Jaroslav Halak will not play in Game 4 as he recovers from an ankle injury he suffered in Game 2. Halak has skated but has yet to return to regular practice for the Blues. While he is expected to miss Game 4, the Blues have insisted the injury isn’t serious and that Halak is day-to-day. Brian Elliott will once again man the pipes for the Blues as they look to win their second road game and take a 3-1 series advantage,
One can assume that even if Halak was back to 100% that most fans would prefer if Ken Hitchcock gave Elliott the start considering the team has won the two games where he has spent the majority of time in net. Elliott was outstanding in relief in Game 2 and turned in a solid two and a half periods in Game 3 – the final chunk of the third period of Game 3 saw the entire squad let off the gas.
Hitchcock reiterated that the Blues have plenty of faith in Brian Elliott and aren’t overly worried that Halak is currently out of commission. In an article from ESPN Hitchcock stated that “We’ve had confidence in (Elliott) since Day 1”.
Elliott has stopped 43 of the 46 shots he has faced in the playoffs heading into Thursday night.
