Huskins Fractures Ankle, Joins IR
While the majority of St. Louis continues to celebrate the World Series victory through the weekend and into the coming week, the Blues quietly released news on the injury Kent Huskins sustained against Calgary last night. The d-man has a fractured bone in his left ankle and has been placed on the IR.
There’s always some sort of injury, isn’t there?
Blues fans that thought the club was finally beating the ol’ injury bug with Carlo Colaiacovo returning to the lineup and David Perron continuing to work on his recovery will be bummed to here this one. Currently there is no timetable in place for Huskins and we won’t have one until he is re-evaluated when the Blues return to St. Louis.
One of the more subtle additions made by the team this summer, Huskins has gotten off to a quick start in 2011-12 scoring two goals and two assists in nine games. He also boasts an impressive +6 plus/minus rating which is not only good for second best on the Blues but is also good enough to place him near the top of the list league-wide.
Defensively, as evidenced by his plus/minus rating, Huskins has done his part in shutting down the opposition and limiting chances. He has been physical when he has needed to be and has used his experience to calmly put out fires around the St. Louis net.
More information will be released in the coming days.
