Tarasenko Finally Arrives in
According to the St. Louis Blues official site the “wait is over”. While some of us may debate that this headline should have been reserved for the Blues winning a Stanley Cup, Vladimir Tarasenko’s arrival in St. Louis has been a long time coming. Today the top prospect worked out for the first time with the St. Louis Blues.
Tarasenko was met with applause by devoted fans that made the trek out to the St. Louis Mills as he made his first appearance in a St. Louis uniform. The site was a joyous one for hockey fans that have been searching for positive news at a time where a 2012-13 season looks bleak.
So, how did Tarasenko look in his first basic practice with some members of the St. Louis Blues? The quote below from Andy McDonald may give you an idea if you weren’t in attendance.

Unfortunately, most St. Louis fans should probably reign in their excitement a bit. Tarasenko has the potential to be a major player in the NHL. However, it will take time for him to adjust to the size and speed of the NHL. The NHL is a totally different animal when compared to the KHL. It’s unclear how long it will take him to adjust and how he will perform in the confines of an NHL game.
No article would be complete without a discussion about the lockout. Fans also should brace for Tarasenko’s time in St. Louis to be brief as he will likely return to the KHL is the NHL enters a lockout. Gary Bettman has set the deadline for a lockout at September 15th which means if a deal isn’t reach Tarasenko may be hopping on a plane back to Russia in the coming weeks.
