Bishop Sent Back to Peoria

Bishop Sent Back to Peoria

Called up just a few days ago to back Ty Conklin while Jaroslav Halak dealt with an “upper-body” injury, Ben Bishop has been sent back down to Peoria today. The 24-year-old didn’t see any action during his brief call-up. With Bishop being sent back down, we can assume that means Halak is now ready to return to game action.

Bishop appeared in six games for the Blues during the 2008-09 season but hasn’t been able to find any time on the ice at the professional level since.

In other goaltending news, word out of Andy Strickland’s website reports that the Blues may be shopping Ty Conklin to the Detroit Red Wings, if not other teams as well. Take this information with a hefty grain of salt. Rumors are the norm this time of year and it’s best to read them, analyze them and move on without taking any of them too seriously. Rumors are exactly that – rumors.

If the Blues aren’t planning on bringing Conklin back next year then it would make more sense to try and get as much in return from him as possible. Granted, that won’t be much, but Conklin’s value is higher now than it would be once the season concludes.

With both Bishop and Jake Allen waiting in the wings, Conklin’s time with the Blues is likely drawing to a close, but we wouldn’t be too quick to buy into the rumors – yet.
