Halak Day-to-Day

Halak Day-to-Day

One step forward, two steps back. With Andy McDonald and Barret Jackman expected to return to the lineup, the Blues will be without starting goaltender Jaroslav Halak as he is day-to-day with an “upper-body” injury. Ben Bishop has been called up from Peoria to provide depth while Halak is out.

Thankfully, the injury isn’t believed to be serious but it is worrisome that the Blues have yet another setback to deal with.

Coming out of an extended break, the hope was that the Blues as well as Halak would settle into a groove and rattle off some needed W’s. As has been mentioned numerous times, Halak and the Blues had a January to forget, and like most of their fans, were eager to turn the page on the calendar and start fresh in February. For Halak, that will have to wait.

The details of the injury aren’t too clear at this time and is being hidden behind the infamous upper-body label. Rumors are saying it is somehow hand related, but there’s nothing released to confirm that currently.

Ty Conklin will take over the starting job tonight against the Oilers and will be backed by Ben Bishop.

Halak’s injury isn’t believed to be serious, but expect Conklin to be the man between the pipes for at least the next game or two. Bishop probably won’t be seeing any time and his call-up is more of a formality than a call to action.
