There’s not much that can be said about Game 5. Like Game 4, the Blues had several opportunities to go out in front. Countless missed empty nets, bad changes and abysmal defending. It was more of the same in Game 5, but this time the Blues made it their mission to miss at least four […]
T.J. Oshie had been pretty quiet in this series. Looks like he saved his best for Game 5.
St. Louis newscasts are notoriously painful to sit through. If you can stomach the stations trying to shove a local, pointless angle down your throat, you’ll be rewarded with sports coverage which barely recognizes any teams outside of the Cardinals. With all of the above in mind, it’s rather remarkable that a Blues fans was […]
The St. Louis Blues announced that they have sent Dmitrij Jaskin back to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. The news isn’t surprising. Jaskin hasn’t seen any playing time during the playoffs and the Blues are mostly healthy, excluding injuries to Brenden Morrow and the uncertain state of David Backes. With Chris Porter and Adam […]
Vladimir Tarasenko has been the MVP of the Blues so far in the first round. Aside from being one of the only Blues to be able to actually fire a shot on frame, Tarasenko has delivered clutch goals on multiple occasions through the first four games. What does T.J. Oshie have to say about the […]
The Blues looked outstanding for long stretches in Game 4. Vladimir Tarasenko was spectacular, notching two goals in what proved to be a losing effort. With a 3-2 lead and only a handful of minutes left to play in the third, a victory was within reach. Then the Blues committed the #1 mistake you can’t […]
The St. Louis Blues scored a couple late goals in the second period in Game 4. No one told ESPN that as their score update stated the Blues were trailing 2-0 after two periods.
Ken Hitchcock has announced that Brenden Morrow will miss the remainder of the first round against the Chicago Blackhawks. Morrow was able to play in Game 1 and Game 3, but will now miss the rest of the series with a lower-body injury. Morrow’s injury is actually a pretty significant one for the Blues. He […]
The belief that the Blues don’t receive the respect or the attention they deserve has been shared by fans for ages. Listen to a broadcast on NBC and you’ll hear praises for Chicago and butchered St. Louis names. It’s almost impossible to stomach. It turns out that the NBC Sports Live Extra app doesn’t have […]
Steve Ott’s big hit on Duncan Keith in Game 3 won’t make up for Keith’s comments to a dazed David Backes, but it’s certainly a solid place to start. Take note: this is what a clean, hard hockey check looks like. The NHL may have to show this video to Brent Seabrook. Actually, you may have to show it to all of the Blackhawks fans in the crowd clamoring for a penalty.
T.J. Oshie is arguably the most popular skater on the Blues. In fact, he’s one of the most popular athletes in St. Louis as well. It turns out that Oshie’s popularity isn’t constricted to just St. Louis. As seen in a report from Best Tickets (compiled by On the Forecheck), Oshie is third on the […]
Just one day after it was released that the Blues had the highest average TV ratings of any Western Conference playoff team, Fox Sports Midwest announces that Game 3 was the most-watched Blues game in their history. Game 3 earned an 11.9 rating, besting the previous high of 11.0 set in 2012 when the Blues […]
Steve Ott has been widely criticized in St. Louis following the trade with the Buffalo Sabres. Ott has been valuable on draws and assisted on Alexander Steen’s Game 1 winner, but he really hasn’t made an impact yet with the Blues. Despite all of this, you have to at least give Ott credit for having […]
The loss in Game 3 was a team effort. Ryan Miller allowed the soft goal above, but he made several big saves which could have pushed the score even higher. Meanwhile, the Blues struggled to put pucks on frame despite controlling the play for nearly the whole third period. Letting this one in was bad, but fans shouldn’t be too hasty in pinning this loss on Miller.
The Blues have posted some huge TV ratings through the first couple games of the first round. In fact, they’ve posted the largest average ratings of any team in the Western Conference. When comparing the Blues to the league as a whole, the club ranks third in average ratings through the first five days of […]
