Troy Brouwer’s goal wasn’t pretty. In fact, it was pretty ugly as it took him three tries to convert. Still, that ugly – yet amazingly beautiful goal – sent Chicago home and sent Blues fans into a frenzy. The best reaction after that goal? It came from Brouwer as he sat on the bench. Incredible.
Did that really just happen? The Blues survived another ugly second period and a post-to-post shot to kick the Blackhawks out of the playoffs in Game 7. That sentence feels strange to write as too often the Blues are on the losing side of the handshake line, especially when the spotlight is at its brightest. […]
The Blues had opportunities to close out the series against the Blackhawks with a win in Game 5 at home or a win on the road in Game 6. Both opportunities were wasted which now forces the worst case scenario – Game 7 back in St. Louis. Though Ken Hitchcock sounds pretty happy about things. […]
Game 6 was a disaster for the Blues, but fans in St. Louis were spared from having to watch the ending as local NBC affiliate KSDK lost power with roughly 2:30 left in the final period.
A lot of fans wanted to see the Blues kick the Blackhawks to the curb in Game 5. The Scottrade Center had a crowd close to 20,000 fans and Fox Sports Midwest set a new ratings records with a massive 15.0 rating in the St. Louis market. The disappointing loss was the highest-rated Blues game […]
The setting was perfect for Game 5. The Blues had an opportunity to kick the Blackhawks out of the playoffs – an opportunity which doesn’t present itself often. The game was played in front of nearly 20,000 loud, screaming fans in the Scottrade Center. Andrew Shaw was suspended. Things appeared to be lined up for […]
John Kelly and Darren Pang combine to form one of the best broadcast duos in the NHL. The two have great chemistry and Kelly’s strong play-by-play abilities gel well with Pang’s color commentary. Some people aren’t fans, which is fine, but most columnists and journalists keep those opinions to themselves to remain professional. Toronto Sun […]
Game 3 had all the ingredients for a disaster. Following the Game 2 spectacle, the Blues were under duress almost immediately in Game 3 but miraculously pulled out a win. Is this a different team from the Blues of old? Game 3 started off in ugly fashion. Right off the hop, the officials gave Kyle […]
If you watch Vladimir Tarasenko on the ice, you’re aware he has some slick moves, a wicked shot and some surprising strength. That strength is the most evident as he powers around defenders and shrugs off attempts to knock him down. Thanks to Ryan Whitney and Mike Rupp, two retired NHL skaters, we now know […]
There were a lot of bad calls in Game 2 between the Blackhawks and Blues. One of those was the embellishment call on Robby Fabbri when he was cross-checked by Andrew Ladd. While fans pointed out how ridiculous the call was, one official reportedly claimed Fabbri was “folding like a card table” on the play. […]
There’s not much to say after that one. NHL officials, often criticized for their incompetency, lived up to their reputation on multiple occasions in Game 2. The officials were involved heavily on the scoreline, ruining what should have been a great playoff game between two strong teams. Blown Icing The linesman is supposed to notice […]
A win is a win. Even if it’s ugly, and believe me the Blues’ win in Game 1 was ugly, it still counts. Here are some thoughts from the first game of the first round. Brian Elliott He has received a ton of praise for his performance and all of it is deserved. For long […]
Here’s where you can find all of the Blues-Blackhawks games on TV. All of the games will be available on NBC or NBCSN, but the coverage there is excruciating and we’d all rather listen to John Kelly and Darren Pang. Fox Sports Midwest will broadcast Games 1, 2 and 4 and may extend coverage to […]
Out of the three rookie success stories on the Blues this season, Joel Edmundson’s has been discussed the least. Colton Parayko and Robby Fabbri have received the bulk of the attention (deservedly so), but Edmundson has been a solid, reliable defenseman throughout the year and his play was rewarded by the Blues with a two-year, $2.1 […]
Steve Ott has been an easy target for Blues fans and blogs such as this one, but there’s nothing funny about what’s currently keeping Ott out of the lineup. Jeremy Rutherford reports that Ott is currently dealing with Colitis, which refers to inflammation in the colon. Ott will be evaluated again in two weeks, but you […]
