What are the odds the Blues will win the West and the Stanley Cup?

It’s that time again. Yes, it’s the time of the year (one of many) where we shift our collective attention to Vegas and see what sort of odds the St. Louis Blues have to escape the Western Conference and win the Stanley Cup.

The Blues have 12/1 odds to hoist the Cup in 2014-15, according to a variety of gambling sources. Even when comparing two of your choice, most sources list the Blues right at, or very close to, 12/1. The West is a bit more complicated. It looks like the Blues have 11/2 odds to win the West, but those odds seem a bit more flexible depending on where/when you look.

How do those odds stack up against the NHL and the West?

Odds to Win the Cup
Chicago – 7/1
Boston – 10/1
Los Angeles – 10/1
Anaheim – 12/1
Pittsburgh 12/1
St. Louis – 12/1

Odds to Win the West
Chicago – 4/1
Los Angeles – 5/1
Anaheim – 11/2
St. Louis – 11/2

Even though the Blues upgraded offensively through Paul Stastny, this goes to show just how stacked the West is and how difficult it is to even reach the Final. It’ll be interesting to see how these lines change as we get closer to the season and into training camp, but for now the Blues are one of four or five teams who are clear favorites to win the Cup.
