You might remember that I've discussed the St. Louis Blues' odds to win the Stanley Cup a couple times in the past. In those articles I detailed that the Blues held 12/1 odds to hoist the Cup prior to the 2013-14 season and then 10/1 odds to win it all back in September.
How have things changed since then? Is Vegas still viewing the Blues favorably?
Vegas has noticed the Blues' hot start. As of the middle of December, the Blues own 7/1 odds to win the Cup. The Blues have the third-best odds to win the league's ultimate prize, trailing just Pittsburgh (5/1) and Chicago (6/1). (Insert obnoxious comment about Chicago here)
What does this all mean? Not much, honestly. The Blues were picked as the favorites during the playoffs last season and we all saw how that worked out. However, the lines are fun to follow throughout the course of a season as the team rides through various hot and cold streaks. If you were a firm believer that this was the team's year and you put your money where your mouth is, you were better off doing so a few months ago than you would be if you made the same bet now.
Considering how many people enjoy betting on sports and doing ice hockey betting online, it's fair to assume that the club's movement as a favorite will either make you happy you already placed your bet or disappointed that you waited this long.
