Magnus Paajarvi is on the IR with an upper-body injury. Brenden Morrow is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Maxim Lapierre is ready to return after his five-game suspension, but he hasn't seen action since October 15th and he hasn't been very effective when he has started.
As a result of the three stories above, the Blues have called up Chris Porter from the AHL's Chicago Wolves.
Welcome back Mr. Porter. If you recall, Porter was the last man cut from the NHL roster and was placed on waivers in order to move him down to the AHL back at the end of September. Porter cleared waivers and has suited up in seven games for the Wolves, contributing four assists.
Calling up Porter was an easy decision. The Blues lost some speed when Paajarvi went down with an injury and Porter can inject some back into the roster. However, it's not a lock that he will even see any action. Morrow may be able to play given his day-to-day status and it remains to be seen how the Blues want to handle Lapierre. The safe bet is that Morrow may be given a game or two off and Lapierre will be given a chance to redeem himself.
